Day 1: Huaraz – Pocpa (3450m) - Cuartelhuain (4170m)

Day 2: Cuartelhuain - Cacananpunta Pass (4690m) – jancapampa (4230m)

Day 3: mitucocha - Carhuac Pass (4640m) - Lake Carhuacocha (4100m)

Day 4: Rest Day or day off at Lake Carhuacocha

Day 5: Carhuacocha - Siula Pass (4834m) - Huayhuash (4345m)

Day 6: Huayhuash - Portachuelo Pass (4750m) – pumarinri base camp (4600m)

Day 7: base camp - Pumarinri Climb (5460m) - Jatun Cuyoc (4490m)

Day 8: Jatun Cuyoc - San Antonio Pass (5100m) - Calinca Valley at (4100m)

Day 9: Rest Day or Day Off at Calinca Valley

Itinerary Description

Dazzling panoramic views at your feet on Trekking & Climbing Cordillera Huayhuash

Day 1: Huaraz – Pocpa (3450m) - Cuartelhuain (4170m)
In the morning we will pick up you at your hotel with our private transportation to drive south Huaraz on the paved way until chiquian town, then we will continue driving until reach cuartelhuain camping spot on the way we will pass Llamac– pocpa village, the last one is gateway of Cordillera Huayhuash, at the camp site we will meet with our donkey-driver and donkeys, as soon as we arrive the camp we will have the first view of snow- capped peaks of rondoy, ninashanca & hirishanca Overnight camp at cuartelhuain

Day 2: Cuartelhuain - Cacananpunta Pass (4690m) – jancapampa (4230m)
This day we will climb up on a gradual grassy ascend trail until reach the rocky Cacanan punta Pass oft windy spot (4690m), From this point we will enjoy the impressive view of the each valleys and we will have an opportunity to observe majestic condors soaring over the pass, Then we will descend on lose gravel rock trail on colorful quebrada caliente toward our next camp at jancapampa just below of mounts Shirishanca and ninashanca. Day 3: mitucocha - Carhuac Pass (4640m) - Lake Carhuacocha (4100m)
Today trek is on gently grade walk up almost flat terrain until Punta Carhuac pass at (4640m), from this pass we will be able to have breath- taking views of the highest peaks of Huayhuash such as: Yerupaja (6617m) and the famous Siula Grande (6344m), shirishanca very well-known as humming bird pick, after that we will walk down toward the lake Carhuacocha greeted by huge pecks, all huge resplendent pecks dominating the skyline to the west – while near the lakes shore an idyllic camp site await, scenic with astonishing mountain view.

Day 4: Rest Day or day off at Lake Carhuacocha
We spend an extra day at spectacular Lake Carhuacocha greeted by huge pecks resplendent into the lake.

Optional 01: Hike up to visit the three spectacular lakes such as: ganrajanca, siula and quesilojanca, which are lies just below of huge east faces of mount Yerupaja and mount Siula Grande.

Option02: easy hike around the Lake Carhuacocha, try to fish trout

Option 03: take simple day off at the camp site to enjoy the most dramatic view.

Day 5: Carhuacocha - Siula Pass (4834m) - Huayhuash (4345m)
For this day we offer two trekking routes: There is one route that takes us via Carnicero pass (4600m), which is suitable for people, who do not have a good shape, whereas the other one is more demanding and challenging, but worthwhile, over the Siula pass we will enjoy the most wondrous and breath taking views behind of three glacier lakes from overlooking spot, which is unique in the circuit and jugged peaks towering, then we will continue walking over the peat lands until our next camp.

Day 6: Huayhuash - Portachuelo Pass (4750m) – pumarinri base camp (4600m)
We start walking up the valley heading south towards the spectacular pass of Portachuelo de Huayhuash, photogenic pyramid of rock and ice face of mount trapecio is constant companion for the climb to the pass, over there we will spend short time to enjoy the view of the Cordillera Raura, the trail drops steadily past the largest Lake Viconga then turn to the east until reach base camp of mount pumarinri with lovely view to the valleys ahead.

Day 7: base camp - Pumarinri Climb (5460m) - Jatun Cuyoc (4490m)
Summit day: this day as usually we leave early at 1:00 am we climb the south face and ridge, The climb is easy but occasionally little bit steep slope ice although not technical, From the summit the view is superb, then we descent on the same route up. From the pass the glacier cuyoc seems almost close enough to touch, where we will have the most impressive mountain views, then we will descent on gravel stony surface trail but lower down became easier, as soon as we cross the alpine meadow the camping spot offer dramatic view to the north-west face of nevado cuyoc.

Day 8: Jatun Cuyoc - San Antonio Pass (5100m) - Calinca Valley at (4100m)
This day is hard we will hike up on very steep path until reach the highest pass in whole the trek cero San Antonio over (5100m), where the panorama view is phenomenal, and glorious, then we will descent on steep hill & slippery until calinca valley with spectacular & brilliant view of jurao and sarapococha lake, The path drops on several switchbacks until flat bottom of calinca valley.

Day 9: Rest Day or Day Off at Calinca Valley

Option 01: hike to explore the beautiful valley where Joe Simpson’s epic escape from siula grande unfolded where the mountain film "Touching the Void” was filmed.

Option 02: simple take rest day at campsite or walk up to Jurao Lake

Day 10: Cutatambo - Huayllapa(3350m) - Huatiac(4350m)
Today contrast greatly with others on the circuit, leave the big peaks behind, Walk down along the pleasant grass Calinca valley until the small isolated mountain village of Huayllapa, with beautiful views of waterfalls. In the afternoon we walk up on moderate grade and steep trail until Huatiac campsite at 4350m, which is located on high grazing meadow under the shadow of mount Diablo mudo “dumb devil”.

Day 11: Huatiac - Punta Tapush Pass (4750m) - Cashpapampa (4550m)
This day we walk up on gradual ascent until reach punta tapush pass, then we descent with tremendous view to lagoon of susucocha and Diablo mudo to the right until base camp of mount Diablo mudo, from where is companioning the summit of Diablo mudo to the valley ahead.

Day 12: base camp - Diablo Mudo Summit (5350m) –Jahuacocha (4050m)
Summit day: this day as in pumarinri we will leave early at 1:00 am we will climb along north glacier ridge until summit, but the route change year a year, on the summit we will have overwhelming view about the most spectacular mountain scenery the majestic yarupaja. The descent is a different route, into the Huacrish Valley, , descending from the summit feels like you are falling off the end of the earth, but makes for a rapid journey to another gorgeous camp site on the shores of jahuacocha. Day 13: Jahuacocha - Pampa Llamac (4270m) - Llamac - Huaraz
After completing successfully our Andean circuit we will walk down on flat grass valley, then we will walk up on the gradual ascend trail until reach Pampa Llamac pass at 4270m, where we will rest for taking last pictures, after that we will descend dropping on slope trail until Llamac Village, where our private transportation is waiting us to comeback Huaraz FINISH OUR TREK. Back to Huaraz for a nice shower and some rest; enjoy a good dinner in town.
